LLDP/CDP/EDP Improvement (display physical interface only)

Details

    Description

I think it would make sense ignoring all non-physical interfaces as a LLDP/CDP/EDP etc neighbor. Those protocols are used for linking real physical interfaces and not any logical one. Attached a example screenshot of the current behaviour.

          Thanks!

Just was not sure about this

          Hi Mike,

I dont see any changes, it still looks great. Only physical ports are linked, bundle-ether (lacp) port is not matched
Still want screenshot or is this okay so far?

dklimek I reopen this issue, while additional changes related to neighbours was added.

Can you attach new screenshot now?

They are still visible, but not linked to the device / ports. See latest uploaded screenshot.

          Should be fixed in r9898.

As discussed in mail, I will "hide" non-physical links on this ports page.
Not possible (and not fully correct) to ignore this links on discovery stage.

I can see this "issue" is caused by Cisco devices and it's not possible to turn it off or any other configuration adjustment that stops it.

Hmmm.... any chance for us that Observium could implement an workaround or optional conflig flag that can be enabled to prevent linking logical interfaces with physical interfaces at LLDP, EDP, CDP?

Damn, I think you're right. But how should Extreme know that this is a physical or logical port? I think that Cisco should stop advertise logical information :-/

          You mean link with BE99?

I think this is issue on Extreme LLDP data, I never seen such linking on other devices, this is of course should be only physical interfaces.

Attach debug discovery for (from Extreme device):

          ./discovery.php -d -m neighbours -h <device>
