    Description

APC UPS and PDU use a different set of sensors.
For the UPS need to change the sensors detected.

I tested it with Smart-UPS 2200 XL with MGMT Card AP9617.

          [OBS-55] Support for APC UPS

This issue is old.. Observium have had good support for APC devices for quite some time.

Is this out of tree patch still the best available option for getting our APC UPS's to work?

Yes, I like the idea of Tom.
Then, for example, for all APC devices can enumerate all possible sensors (device_current, device_voltage, etc), but the minigraphs show only those that are present for the device.

The minigraphs are an observium-wide "problem", which should be solved in a different way (only display current if device has current, etc) - I won't accept "just" adding apc ups, unless the entire apc code is redone do accomodate it (apc pdu, apc ups, etc -> then only poll the parts needed, and poll the common things via os_group apc).

This is why we have os_group

About PowerNet-MIB I mean just upgrade to the latest version (to support new devices). In Observium version is 4.0.3, but latest version 4.0.5

I agree that the creation of a separate OS for the UPS is not quite right, but the current mini graph (device_current) is not universal for all APC devices.

device_current - only displays the output current power (in A) and typical for the PDUs, for UPS and are more characteristic parameters of voltage and frequency. For my device instead of the graph shows "Draw error", but the device PDU (AP7920) okay.

Also used in the file (includes/discovery/current/apc.inc.php) OID - rPDUStatusPhaseIndex, which is the only PDUs.

Tom, how else can you suggest to solve this problem with the mini-graphs?

PowerNet-MIB included with Observium is the one you linked to, by the way.

(Changing what mini graphs are shown on the device page should and will be solved in a different way) - my APC UPSes do those fine btw. But yes, not all do. Still, no reason to make a new OS - they run the same OS. At least my UPSes and PDUs do.
