    Description

We are currently testing 9800 controllers (IOS-XE) in planning to replace our existing AireOS boxes.

Observium discovers and polls the 9800's fine, but they are discovered as generic network devices, not wireless, and present no WiFi related info. No information about connected access points, clients, WiFi statistics, etc. It's not very useful from a monitoring standpoint.

      9800 specific MIBs attached.

[OBS-3937] Cisco 9800 WLC - being discovered as a generic network device, no WiFI info

I am now on 23.2.12537 (17th February 2023) - Professional, and nothing has changed about this one since I submitted it. It still doesn't see the access points and it still doesn't see or report anything about the clients. From a monitoring standpoint, with respect to 9800 controllers, it's useless.

Hi Mike, no change on wifi features in our updated instance of Observium. We have updated as of yesterday.

We are on    23.1.12485 (23rd January 2023) , The device type is being seen as wireless  but none of the wireless graphs are under the device

Top screenshot is from a 9800 and the bottom screenshot is from our 5508..

Please let me know if there's anything I can do to assist.

Hello, any progress in wifi monitoring? No AP monitoring yet.

Upgraded to most recent version (11734). Deleted WLC, readded, and re-ran debug discovery/poller. Not seeing any wifi related stats / devices (i.e. no access points detected, etc.) Again, assuming still work in progress, so just wanted to provide updated information.

Correctly discovering the controller as wireless now (added snip), no wifi monitoring yet (assuming still in progress, this was just FYI)
