    Description

To reiterate requests previously entered as OBS-454 and OBS-1147

We need the ability to monitor "PING only" devices.

Our purpose is to monitor network paths "outside" of the SD-WAN logical routes.  We can monitor the individual SD-WAN concentrators on the far end of the tunnel via SNMP; but we also need to be able to monitor the individual paths to each device.

[OBS-3276] Support for 'PING only' Devices

Totally agree, please enable the only-ping feature.

Adding my support getting this feature added. It would be ridiculously handy and beneficial.

Just started using Observium to hopefully replace another monitoring tool we use and absolutely shocked this capability isn't just a basic feature from the start.  Severely limiting w/o this.

Unfortunately the pingprobe will not work for us, as the snmp polling is not achievable with those devices.

Any word if this feature will be considered any time soon?

Seems to work fine, I've added a pingprobe and then disabled snmp polling on those devices. Would be great if you could add the pingprobe without having the device through snmp though.

            Hi @odmattvicari,

Have you succeed in adding the "Probe"?. In my case the "Probe" can only be added to an existing device, which can be added if reply to snmp. And when added, it doesn't show the ping stats, only 1 (alive) or 0 (dead).

@Hamdy916 you can find more info here https://docs.observium.org/probes/. Is under the "World" menu, below "Custom OIDs".

FYI All - If you have the paid versions of Observium, there is a new "Probe" feature that allows for ping-only monitoring (among other things).

We have several hundred Manufacturing devices that do not support SNMP, but need to be monitored for availability nonetheless.

Adding PING-ONLY monitoring would be invaluable for us and make Observium our sole source of truth.
