    Description

After deleting a device, I cannot re-add it. I get a message saying:

Already got device with SNMP-read sysName (atl-vsfs03.jinny.com)

I can re-add the device with a DNS cname or IP address, but can never re-add a device that was once there after I delete it.

          I hope you're okay.

But more than 2 years have passed since the last comment, and the problem could not be reproduced.

Thank you. I will let you know in Monday.

pls show output for svn status, or better attach diff for changed files (probably you have incopatible changes):

          svn diff /opt/observium > changes.patch

          Try:

          • open devices page (All devices)
          • type atl-vsfs03.jinny.com in sysName field, click Search

Probably you have another device with same sysName, it is possible for devices of the same type or if the configuration is copied between devices ..

Another check, try to add device (with debug flag -d) from console:

          ./add_device.php -d <hostname> [community] v2c

          (Attach output here)

Yes I do see that list. So my question is what is it checking to see if the device is already there? I can't run that command at the moment, but I will asap.

Ok, but I can't reproduce same issue.

          You not have local changes?

          svn status /opt/observium

You see page (after delete device) with list deleted table entries, rrd paths, etc?

          1. Click the device link and it brings to the main screen of the device ( device=333 )
          2. Click the gear icon
          3. Click 'delete device' link
          4. Check the check box on the confirmation screen
          5. Click the delete button
          6. Try to readd the device, get the message.

          Sorry for delay.

Please describe (steps) exactly how you deleted the device.
