Device Overview IPv4 and IPv6 Information

Details

    Description

What would you think about adding a information field on the device page which shows the resolved IPv4 and/or IPv6 address of this device? I know Observium is using FQDN but in many times it's very useful to see the address of the device which observium used to query this device.

It would be only a additional information and could be also cached for the time as the TTL of the dns record in the mysql database. So it will not impact the performance of the web interface.

Maybe adding this as a optional feature which needs to be activated in config.php and by default it's disabled.

landy - Do you think it makes sense for us to resolve the host at poller time and use the resolved IP for snmp commands, then storing it in the db and exposing it somehow?

I hear someone the other day say that dns resolution was a minor CPU hog on one of their pollers. So this might help with a tiny bit of load, too.
