Hardware info & Inventory of Unix hosts from lshw

We could get hardware info, vendor name, board make/model, serial number, ram modules, devices, drives, usb/pci peripherals installed, etc from the tool "lshw". It would be nice if there is an unix-agent script which parses this data so that during discovery/polling we can update HW/vendor/serial/inventory list for a unix host. Right now, we just get "Generic x86 [64bit]" and inventory based only on SNMP readings.
